Stella Mae's Story

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State. We are a local foster home based rescue.

Stella Mae is a happy senior girl who is a friend to everyone. She would love a family that will include her in their plans. Stella Mae enjoys going for walks and will need some guidance on proper leash manners. She is also vocal while on walks...she wants everyone to know that she is ready to be greeted. Apartment life is not for this girl. After her walk Stella Mae will seek out a cozy spot, preferably right beside her people.

Stella Mae has been very friendly to other dogs that she has met along the way. She would enjoy a canine companion possessing the same respectful demeanor that she possesses. We don't know if Stella Mae has had any experience with cats, therefore, any cat in the home should have a safe place to observe her while she adapts to her new surroundings. This lovely lady has impeccable house manners.

Stella Mae received a Senior Wellness Exam with bloodwork. She was recently spayed and received a dental with extractions. Stella Mae has arthritis and has been prescribed Cosequin, a joint supplement, and Carprofen, an anti-inflammatory, indefinitely to help with mobility and prevent joint discomfort. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. Stella Mae is 9 years old and weighs 95 pounds.

Please note, we have approximately a 200 mile adoption radius from Stanwood WA for our Senior Dogs. Save-A-Mutt may limit this distance based on the long term needs of this pet. We don’t adopt out of state except to the Vancouver BC area. We don’t ship dogs. Once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up their dog. For questions about this dog please call Elizabeth Woche, Senior and Special Needs Dog Coordinator, at 425-974-9479

Save-A-Mutt's Adoption Policy
Save-A-Mutt is a Foster Based rescue. All our dogs are in foster homes, there is no facility to visit. All adopters are required to fill out an application. As we review the application, we may have questions - and prefer email to ask/answer them. So please check your email regularly. We may remove adoptable animals off of Petfinder while we work on applications - but will contact you to let you know. We like to have one good app per pet as not to disappoint people. It can take a couple days to finish an application, depending on your references, etc. Please let your references know that will be sending emails - they sometime go to junk mail. We enjoy open communication, but we are a volunteer organization, so please be patient. Once we receive all the information we need, we will schedule a phone interview, home check, etc. Thank you and we will be in touch! Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make acceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
