Meet Steel!<br/><br/>Steel is a handsome 1-year-old purebred Black Tri with grey dilute coloring , Australian Shepherd weighing approximately 45 pounds. Like many young Aussies, he is intelligent, athletic, and always ready for his next adventure. If youre looking for a loyal companion to hike, walk, play, and explore with, Steel may be your perfect match!<br/><br/>Steel is fully vetted and ready for his forever home. He is:<br/><br/>* Neutered<br/>* Microchipped<br/>* Current on rabies, Bordetella, and DHPP (distemper/parvo) vaccinations<br/>* Protected with ProHeart 12 for annual heartworm prevention<br/>* On Bravecto for flea and tick prevention<br/><br/>Steel has excellent house manners. He is potty trained, crate trained, and has never been destructive—he only chews on his toys. He loves going for walks, riding in the car, and playing with his favorite toys. One of his sweetest quirks is that he likes to hold your hand (or at least your paw!) while riding in the car.<br/><br/>He already knows several commands, including sit, down, place, shake, and stay, and he enjoys learning and working with his person.<br/><br/>Steel has worked with a professional trainer and has been evaluated as reactive rather than aggressive. He can be fearful of strangers and may growl when hes unsure, but he has never attempted to bite or attack a person. Because of his sensitivity, he will do best with an experienced owner who understands reactive dogs and is committed to continuing his training and building his confidence.<br/><br/>One behavior to be aware of is that when other dogs are screaming or squealing—such as in a grooming environment—Steel becomes highly aroused and may bark and attempt to react toward the distressed dog. Because of this, he is not a good fit for busy boarding facilities, grooming salons, or chaotic environments.<br/><br/>Steel is also not a fan of fireworks and will appreciate a family that can help him feel safe during loud celebrations.<br/><br/>His current family loves him dearly, but with a busy horse boarding facility and constant activity, they know he would be happier in a quieter home where he has more structure, consistency, and a job to do.<br/><br/>Steel is affectionate, incredibly loyal, fun-loving, and happiest when he has both physical exercise and mental stimulation.
