Star's Story

Born October 21, Star and her 6 siblings were surrendered to a Canadian shelter with their Mom at just a couple days old. A child had gotten into the whelping box of the young Mom and unfortunately she attacked the child which resulted in 2 broken wrists.

She was surrendered with her babies by the backyard breeder.

The puppies stayed at the shelter until they were 6 weeks old, then they all joined foster homes at Mattie's Place and Mom joined a board & train program where she's being absolutely exceptional.

Mom is 29 KG/64 pounds. Dad is in the same weight range. At Star's 1st vet appointment for her vaccines and dewormer she weighed in at 2.3 KG/ 5 pounds [Dec 3, 2025]. At her 2nd vaccine booster Dec 29 she weighed in at 4.7 KG/10 pounds. At her final vaccine appointment, she weighed in at 11.3 kg / 25 pounds on February 2, 2026

I estimate her weight to fall in the 60 - 70 pound range but I have actually no true idea.

Star is still just a baby and will need someone home most often as she navigates the coming months so she can learn all she needs to learn day to day and not be sitting home in a crate while her family is out of the home for full work days. An adopter ready to jump into professional training is important so we can be sure she grows into an amazing adult dog.

Puppies are so much work, so be sure you are absolutely ready to take that roll on; sleepless nights, poop on your floor, your favourite shoes chewed alongside needed routines and commitment to puppyhood.

Star has her final vaccine booster appointment end of January 2026 (at the cost of Mattie's Place). Her spay will take place in May 2026, at a Mattie's Place veterinarian at the cost of Mattie's Place and this will be written into the adoption contract as a non-negotiable.

If you're looking for an amazing pup to welcome home, consider this beauty!

FROM THE FOSTER:

Star is wee but mighty. Star is the smallest puppy but is the most independent and adventurous.

Star is a great eater and is catching up to her bigger siblings. She is not afraid of the outdoors (will come out in the snow).

She loves kids, dogs, and cats and loud noises don’t phase her.

Star loves cuddles but will also seek a nice warm spot by herself to lay down (in front of a heat vent).

Potty training and basic commands are coming along.

---------------------------------------

$875 ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

---------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in its current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.

I estimate her weight to fall in the 60 - 70 pound range but I have actually no true idea.

Star is still just a baby and will need someone home most
