Stanford's Story

Meet Mr. Sanford — or Stan, as his friends call him — a big, lovable Great Pyrenees with a personality as bright as his fluffy white coat. Stan is being displaced at no fault of his own. His owner is facing serious heart issues and will be undergoing major surgery, leaving her unable to care for him. Her college-aged kids are out of the home, so this gentle giant needs a new place to land.

Stan came to us as a puppy and has grown into a joyful, easygoing companion who loves people, veggies, and playtime. He’s about three years old, neutered, house-trained, and knows all his basic commands — even hand signals. In true Pyr fashion, he sometimes likes to “think it over” before responding, just to keep things interesting.

He gets along great with other dogs and has lived peacefully with cats and kids. Stan’s enthusiasm for life means he can get a little excited at times — he just loves being part of the fun. He’s both food- and praise-motivated, and if you offer him a crunchy carrot, you’ll be rewarded with a full-on happy dance.

Born without kneecaps, Stan doesn’t let that stop him. He enjoys walks, snuggles, and playtime, but he’ll do best in a home that helps him pace himself and stay comfy. He also has mild seasonal allergies, so a little extra TLC during allergy season goes a long way.

Through it all, Stan’s heart shines — gentle, goofy, and full of love. He’s the kind of dog who makes every day brighter and deserves a forever home as warm and kind as he is.
