Meet Sprocket

Introducing me Sprocket - Here is what my wonderful foster Mom has to say about me!
"Sprocket is a male poodle-mix, about 12 pounds, and is almost 5 years old. He is super cute and very well-mannered in the house. He is house-trained, crate-trained (which will be provided with his adoption), and non-destructive. He will let you know when he needs to go outside, and he even knows when you are leaving and will sit in his crate and wait for you to lock the door. I would recommend crating when he’s alone as he has a bit of separation anxiety and feels more secure in his crate. When he gets to know you and feels comfortable (which may take a few weeks) he likes to sleep on your lap and loves receiving affection but he’s not obnoxious about it and doesn’t need constant attention. He would also like to share your bed at night. He doesn’t play on his own but will chase a thrown toy and play for a few seconds and does grab a toy to greet you when you return home. I think he is the perfect indoor dog. The challenge with Sprocket is he can be anxious and has fence aggression so I would recommend a fenced backyard with no neighboring dogs. He is also wary of strangers and other dogs and can be unpredictable. He growls and barks one second, then he’s in the stranger’s lap getting pets, then he’s back to growling again. This behavior is probably fear-based and training would benefit him. However, he does great at the groomer with no aggression. He was a bit fearful at first, but I just picked him up and handed him over to the groomer and he was fine. When having visitors, he should probably be leashed and monitored very closely or crated. Because of this, I would not recommend a home with children or other pets. While on walks, I highly recommend a harness and a short leash because he does lunge and bark at strangers, again, he would probably benefit from training for this issue. In my opinion, the perfect furever home for Sprocket would be a one-person home (maybe 2 people, though I can’t be sure), preferably female, where he can feel relaxed and secure since too many people around seems to make him anxious. Sprocket is very sweet and would be a great addition to the right home."
