Spike's Story

Howdy Doody! My name is Spike, and I am from a litter of 3 very handsome German Shepherd/Mountain Cur mix puppies, now about 5 months old, born on or about 3/30/26, and we were left behind at a "kill" shelter in Port Lavaca, Texas. Thankfully, we were amongst a group of 28 dogs and puppies saved from euthanasia when 4 Little Paws Rescue took us all! My group was placed in a foster home in Von Ormy, Texas, so we could get neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for adoption. We have all our veterinary records and are ready to leave Texas behind!

I am the little guy in the pack, weighing in at 27 lbs, and I am just an adorable, happy, sweet baby with a mostly brindled coat and eye-catching touches of white. I have a wonderful personality with playful energy, no shyness, and I make friends easily with everyone- young and old, other dogs, good with cats, and I'm great with kids! Especially a 9-year-old boy who comes to play with us! My foster mom reports that we all have similar personalities... smart, eager to learn, eager to please, and very food-motivated, enjoying anything and everything you offer, including broccoli! I'm sweet and affectionate, love pets and snuggles, and I'm not too proud to share kisses. I am working on housebreaking and doing great, copying the older dogs and using a doggy door when it's open, a potty pad when it's closed, and I still need some practice with walking on a leash. If you are looking for a wonderful family puppy who will have tons of fun playing with the kids, then look no further! Our Mission
Our purpose is to save small breed dogs in overpopulated states such as California, North Carolina, South Carolina,Texas and Florida where there are many more homeless dogs in shelters than willing adopters.
