Meet Spike

Spike came to rescue with a broken leg, probably hit by a car. We took him to the vet to see if we could repair the fracture. The vet thought we would fix the leg so off  to surgery Spike went. Surgery went well and we thought Spike was on his way. But his foster mom noticed that he suddenly stopped using the leg. X-rays showed that the pins had started to pull out of the bone. So, back into surgery he went. This time he came out with an external fixator to try to stabilize the bone. 

Spike's leg just did not want to heal. So after 3 surgeries trying to save it, it was decided that amputation was now what needed to be done. Well, Spike did not miss a beat! We're not even sure he's noticed yet. He was just so happy to be out of the cone of shame, he didn't care what happened.

So, now Spike is ready to search for his new home. Spike is a pretty easy going guy. He likes to hang out with his people on the couch and watch TV. He also gets along with other dogs but he doesn't need doggie friends to be happy.
