Meet Spices!


Spices came to Wisconsin on March 16th, after having been in the shelter for over 5 months. She was on the dreaded euthanasia list, but we couldn’t stand to see this sweet pup’s life shortened. We believe she is a German Shepherd/Carolina Dog mix, but are not certain. She is around 55 lbs and 1 1/2 years old.
As of writing this, Spices has been with us for 4 weeks. This girl is so loving. Every night she curls up with us and snuggles, and she loves to give kisses. When she was first brought up from the shelter, she did not hardly know anything—so we had to train her as we would a puppy. She has made a lot of progress in these 4 short weeks. She is now about 90% potty trained, and learned: sit, stay, lay, and down. She is super treat motivated so training has been pretty easy! Spices loves chewing on her benebones, playing with her large caterpillar toy, and eating peanut butter out of a kong.
Spices tested heartworm positive in the end of December. She completed heart worm treatment on March 14th, and is recovering very well! We’ve been keeping her calm while the worms work their way of her system and therefore, have to isolate her from our other dogs (for now), just so she doesn’t get too excited while she recovers. She absolutely loves walks, and in the next few weeks as she finishes recovering from her heartworm treatment, I know she will be a great running buddy. She is still very puppy-ish so a home with older children would be best.
Spices lived in the shelter from October 2023-March 2024. All this girl wants is a comfy bed, yummy food, and a family to give her unconditional love. Can you help this sweet girl’s dreams come true?
Spices is available for adoption through Ma, Paws, and Me Pet Rescue, Inc. based out of Watertown, WI. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations and monthly preventatives. Her adoption fee is $325. All Ma, Paws & Me Pet Rescue dogs are in homes with foster families; we do not have a shelter where dogs are available for daily viewing.

Our process is as follows:
1. Review our policies and adoption radius on our website: http://mapawsmepetrescue.com/adopt/
2. Submit an application for review and approval;
3. MPM Rescue reviews application and checks vet records and references;
4. MPM foster contacts approved applicant(s) to arrange a home check and meeting with available dog(s);
5. If there is a good fit, adoption is completed with a contract and fees (payable via check or cash).

Dogs from Ma, Paws & Me Pet Rescue come with the following medical care already provided:
- Spay/Neuter surgery
- Age appropriate vaccinations
- Heartworm test (for dogs over 6mo) and treatment if positive
- Microchip
- Deworming
- Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative
- Any other necessary medical treatment as recommended by veterinarian
