Meet Spencer!<br/><br/>If you're looking for a loyal best friend who will adore you with his whole heart, Spencer may be the perfect match. This handsome young Lab/Golden Retriever mix has already been through more uncertainty than any dog should. After being found as a stray, Spencer was taken in by someone who then asked somebody else to care for him. Unfortunately, that person then went on vacation, leaving Spencer all alone in their yard. When no one came back for him, he was rescued and eventually made his way to our shelter. Despite everything he's experienced, Spencer has remained one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet.<br/><br/>Currently spending time in a volunteer home, Spencer has impressed everyone with his wonderful manners and easygoing nature. He's an excellent walking companion, rides beautifully in the car, responds well to redirection, and is overall an incredibly well-behaved young dog. Most of all, Spencer loves being with his people. He's affectionate, gentle, and happiest when he's following his favorite humans from room to room. His foster family says he likes to keep a close eye on the people he loves. At night, he may wake up for a quick potty break and a cuddle session—just to make sure you're still there. After all the instability in his life, it's clear that Spencer treasures having people he can count on.<br/><br/>Spencer is the kind of dog who makes a house feel like home. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting.<br/> You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.<br/> Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences.<br/> We do request vet and personal references.<br/> We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
