Spencer is a 9-month-old, approximately 50-pound mixed-breed pup with a big heart, a goofy personality, and tons of potential. He’s smart, food-motivated, affectionate, and the kind of dog who genuinely wants to learn, work, and have a purpose.<br/><br/>He is fully potty trained and will let his foster family know he needs to go out by crying at the door. At night, he sleeps peacefully on his dog bed in the bedroom and is happy to settle in for the night. During the day, he is comfortable spending 6–8 hours in his kennel when needed. He also does not get on the furniture and is perfectly content having his own cozy spot.<br/><br/>Spencer is an active young dog who benefits from two good walks a day and loves getting out to explore. His leash skills are improving, although squirrels and bunnies are still very exciting! <br/><br/>One of Spencer's best qualities is how smart and eager to please he is. He is extremely food motivated and loves learning new things. He knows sit and down and is working on come and place. Because of his intelligence and working-dog personality, he would thrive with an adopter who enjoys training and is willing to continue working with him. Training classes would be a great way to help him continue building good manners and a strong bond with his person. An adopter with previous dog experience would be ideal.<br/><br/>Spencer enjoys playing with other dogs and can have a great time with a canine playmate. He tends to meet other dogs best when introductions happen off leash. His foster family is mindful about high-value food and toys around other dogs, so continued supervision and management will be important.<br/><br/>For all his energy, Spence has a wonderfully affectionate side. He loves people and is very happy to snuggle when invited. His signature move is giving “hugs” by leaning his entire body into you for some extra love.
