Sourdough (Hutch) Pit Bull Terrier Clinton Township, MI

Hutch was found in a box in Detroit with his other 4 siblings at around 8 weeks old, they were emaciated and covered in feces.

Hutch was the smallest of the puppies and very scared. He is completely blind and has a diagnosis from the neurologist of communicating hydrocephalus due to his dome shaped head and neurological signs he is showing (Fly biting, choking on his tongue, and circling in the same direction).

He is now 8 months old and thriving in his foster home. He does still have the neurological symptoms, but they are something we have all learned to live with. He is a little slower at learning certain things than the average pup, he is still not fully potty trained as he hasn't learned how to tell us he needs to go potty. This will continue to be a work in progress.

He needs eye drops put in both eyes once a day for the rest of his life to keep the inflammation and pressure down, he is at a high risk for glaucoma with the possibility of needing surgery to remove his eyes if the pressure ever increases. He needs the pressure in his eyes checked every 3-6 months at the Ophthalmologist office.

He knows a few basic commands such as sit and shake, we are working on down. He loves to go on walks, but needs to be guided and comforted when he gets nervous with new surroundings and/or noises. Hutch is a nervous dog when he isn't familiar but loves to be snuggled up against his foster moms whenever he can. He has learned the house for the most part, but definitely needs consistency and routine!
