Sophie's Story
This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

TO APPLY:
1) copy/paste this link https://gdrne.com/adopt/adoption-application/
2) OR at the bottom of the page click on "Adoption Policy" and then it will bring up the adoption application.

All the way from Tennessee, meet Sophie, a 3.5-year-old Cocker Spaniel / Mini Aussie Shepherd mix, weighing 33 pounds (as of 7/30/26). Surrendered by her owners due to their declining health, Sophie's looking forward to a new leash on life starting with you!

With her striking black coat and adorable white chest, Sophie is as pretty as she is sweet. And boy, does she know it! She's a playful girl who enjoys spending time with other dogs, and especially loves to be the alpha of the pack. Honestly, we'd follow Sophie anywhere too!

She can be a little shy at first when meeting new people, but once she feels comfortable, her loving personality shines through. She hasn't met kids or cats yet so maybe an introduction is in her future? Sophie appears to be house-trained, is good in a crate, walks nicely on a leash and would enjoy daily strolls around the block with her favorite person. How else will she get the best neighborhood gossip?

Sophie would do best with a quiet, adult home where she can relax, build trust, become a loyal companion and be pampered everyday. If you're looking for a gentle, devoted friend to share life's quieter moments, look no further! She's standing right here waiting for you!

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

To adopt or learn more about Sophie, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] **

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
