She is affectionate with those she knows and does best with structure, routine, and clear guidance. In new environments such as dog parks and the groomer, she is generally well-mannered and adaptable.

Sophia is still learning how to manage certain sounds and exciting situations. With regular exercise, positive reinforcement, and a confident, patient handler, she continues to make steady progress. She thrives when her physical and mental needs are met.

🏃 Energy & Activity Level
Sophia has a high activity level and needs consistent outlets for her energy.

• Morning and afternoon potty walks, about 10–20 minutes each
• One main walk daily, around 40 minutes at a normal pace
• On days off, she enjoys running and playing for up to 1–2 hours in a secure play yard

She loves going outside and will run to the door when it’s time for a walk. She enjoys getting dressed, putting on her harness, and heading out. In play yards, she runs fast, enjoys ball play, and explores happily.

Indoors, she stays busy by choosing toys from her toy box and switching between them. She prefers simple, active play over complex puzzle toys and enjoys toys she can carry, chew, or toss.

🏠 Behavior Highlights

Indoors
• Does not react to doorbells or visitors
• May bark briefly at outside noises through windows but stops quickly with redirection
• Settles well with guidance and routine

Outdoors
• Notices people, dogs, and vehicles on walks but barks far less than before
• Little reaction to cars; motorcycles may still trigger barking
• In fenced off-leash areas, may bark at people, animals, or vehicles passing nearby
• Once barking starts, redirection can be difficult, but it usually decreases with time

🐕 With Other Dogs
Sophia is social and playful.

• Enjoys playing with other dogs, especially in open spaces
• May give a brief, mild growl if another dog approaches her favorite toy, but it does not escalate
• Does not guard food and eats calmly near other dogs
• Waits her turn during group treat time
• Tolerates dogs entering her space and often chooses to sit calmly or move away
• Occasional mild growling when dogs crowd people for attention; manageable and non-escalating

🐱 With Cats
Sophia’s response depends on the cat.

• Can coexist calmly with confident, relaxed cats
• May growl or attempt to chase cats that appear fearful or defensive
• Cat homes require slow introductions, supervision, and management

👨‍👩‍👧 With People & Children
• May bark at unfamiliar people, especially in enclosed or fenced spaces
• More reactive when new people enter her space
• On walks, tends to bark more at men than women
• Limited experience with children
• Best suited for a home with older, dog-savvy children who respect boundaries

✂️ Grooming & Handling
Sophia does very well at the groomer.

• No biting, barking, or aggressive behavior
• Groomer reports improved comfort with handling over time
• Allows full body handling calmly
• Skin and coat are in excellent condition
• Dryer noise is still scary; gradual, positive desensitization is recommended

🚽 Potty Training
Sophia is familiar with both indoor potty pads and outdoor pottying.
She is not yet fully outdoor potty trained, and adopters should expect to continue structured potty training during her adjustment period.

🏡 Ideal Home for Sophia
Sophia will do best with adopters who can offer:

• An active lifestyle with regular exercise
• Ongoing positive-reinforcement training
• A calm, confident handler who provides structure
• Patience during her adjustment period
• Experience with young or energetic dogs is a plus

💬 Important Note from the Rescue
This profile is based on observations from Sophia’s foster home. All dogs need time to adjust to a new environment, and behaviors may change as she settles. We ask adopters to approach her transition with patience, understanding, and realistic expectations.

📷 Follow Our Rescue
@neveralonerescue

Sophia is energetic, curious, and still learning—but with the right home, she has the potential to become a confident, well-balanced companion who brings joy, movement, and affection into everyday life.

Application: Complete the adoption application (with photos and brief descriptions of past or current pets): https://forms.gle/9vBTeT7Dd99dZX627 2. Interview: If there is a potential match, we schedule a ~30-minute interview to learn more about your household, lifestyle, and expectations. 3. Home Check + References: A virtual or in-person home check and reference verification are conducted to ensure a safe and appropriate environment. 4. Registration & Safety: Adopters agree to register the dog with municipal licensing and a national microchip registry (ex: Free Pet Chip Registry). Appropriate safety equipment (GPS tracker, martingale collar, harness) must be used. A photo of the equipment and feeding setup must be provided during the trial period.
