SNOOKI's Story

Hello! My name is SNOOKI (although my name down here in Mehico is actually "Cookie" hehe) and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

Breed: Terrier/Lab Mix
Age: 1 year old
Gender: Female
Weight: 31 lbs (14.3 kgs)
Height: 39 cm (paws to shoulders)
Length: 52 cm (head to butt)
Current Location: Mexico City

RESCUE STORY – My story began in the south of Mexico City, when I was a teeny tiny puppy! On the last day of school before summer vacation, I snuck into the schoolyard to watch the kids play. Sadly, when class ended, I was left all alone and had nowhere to go but back to the streets. Thankfully, a kind teacher came to the rescue and picked me up! I've been at the my foster home since then and now that I'm fully grown, I'm ready for my forever home!

TEMPERAMENT – My friends at the foster home say I am playful, respectful, and veryyyy affectionate – what can I say, I'm just a big ol' ball of love! I absolutely love getting all the pets from people I'm comfy with. I can be a little shy upon first introductions to new people, but with love, patience, and yummy treats, I warm up pretty quickly! I'm looking for a loving home where I can get plenty of cuddles and be deeply loved, like I so deserve!

ENERGY LEVEL – Medium. I'm still a young gal with a good amount of energy. I love a good play sesh and walkie, but after some activity, I am game for a snooze and cuddle!

GETS ALONG WITH:

Kids – Unknown. I spent time with young children as a puppy (video), but haven't been around them a lot since. If an applicant has children, we can request another "kid test" with me :)
Dogs – Yes! I live with other pups at my foster home – my BFF is a Terrier / Greyhound mix named AL! Check out this video where we are enjoying some treats together!
Cats – Unknown.

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

Leash skills – Work in progress. I am still working on my leash skills, but good news is that cars and other loud noises don't seem to bother me on my walks! See some of my leash walking here! I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!
House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

I am micrhipped, spayed, vaccinated, and dewormed. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax ($750.00 + 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.

-------------------------------------

DISCLAIMER:

Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process.

The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.

WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.

West Coast Paws Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
WCP wholeheartedly believes in open communication with our adopters. We are always here to provide support and to join you in celebrating your dogs’ successes! Submit an Application - Start by clicking the “Adopt” button on a WCP dog’s profile. You will be redirected to an application form, which we ask you to fill out in as much detail as possible. Phone Interview - After your application is pre-screened, you will be contacted to arrange a Phone Interview. The purpose of the Phone Interview is to chat about the answers you provided on your application and to ask any clarifying questions. House Check - Once you have passed your Phone Interview, we will ask you to send us some photos of your home. Fear not, we don’t expect your house to look like a showhome! We are simply looking to see where your WCP pup would live and whether or not there are any potential safety hazards (escape areas etc.). Approval - Presuming you pass your House Check, you will receive an Adoption Approval email from our WCP Adoption Team. Deposit - A $100 CAD deposit is required in order for your dog to be reserved for you. Once we have received your deposit, we will update your dogs’ profile to show “Pending Adoption” and will stop accepting any further applications for him/her. At this point, we will notify the Rescuer that a home has been found and request that they start looking for a flight volunteer to bring your pup to Vancouver. Now you patiently wait for your dog to be booked on a flight. The Rescuer will work to find a traveller who is willing to add your dog as ‘extra luggage’ onto their ticket. We refer to these kind humans as “Flight Volunteers”. Meanwhile, your pup will be checked by a veterinarian who will issue a Certificate of Health and ensure your pup's shots are up to date. The vet will then approve the dog for travel and will provide all medical documentation, including your pup’s vaccination record. Flight Confirmation & Final Payment - Once the Rescuer finds a flight for your dog, WCP will send you an email with your pup’s flight information. We will also send you specific instructions regarding airport pickup such as where you need to park, what time you need to be there, and what you need to bring with you. Don’t worry, we will tell you everything you need to know! We require you to sign an Adoption Contract before you pick up your dog. Pickup & Take Your Pup Home - Your pup’s “gotcha” day is finally here! You will pick your dog up at the airport and take him/her home with you. Follow-Up & Post Adoption Support - Your WCP adoption experience doesn’t end the moment you take your dog home. We believe in providing ample post-adoption support and want to be a part of your dog’s journey. Within 7 days of taking your dog home, you can expect a phone call from our Follow-Up Team. If you need any help or support, WCP is here for you and your pup! WCP wholeheartedly believes in open communication with our adopters. We are always here to provide support and to join you in celebrating your dogs’ successes! There is no expiration date on our post-adoption support.
