Smore's Story

Meet Smore — From Survival to Something Beautiful

Smore is a 2 year old Maltipoo and his story is one of quiet resilience and undeniable hope. When he was found wandering the streets of South Los Angeles—matted, gray, and clearly having fended for himself—it was evident life hadn’t been easy. Likely dumped near the shelter, he had been left to navigate the world on his own.

And yet… Smore never shut down.

Through it all, he held onto something remarkable—his love for life and his trust in people. The first thing you notice about him isn’t his past, it’s his eyes—bright, searching, and full of longing. He looks at you like he’s been waiting… waiting for kindness, for safety, for someone to finally choose him.

Now cleaned up, neutered, and stepping into a new chapter, Smore is ready to trade survival for comfort—for soft beds, gentle hands, and a home where he never has to wonder again.

He’s the kind of dog whose transformation won’t just be physical—it will be a full-circle moment. From rags to riches, from overlooked to adored.

Hopeful. Endearing. Ready to be someone’s everything.

We hold an event every weekend at our facility on SATURDAY and SUNDAY 11-5pm and open to the public. It is first come first serve we do not evaluate applications prior to an event. If there are multiple interested parties in the same dog or puppy at the same time we would pick the best out of the 10 applications. Please visit our social media platforms for the specifics for each weekend as it changes from week to week. Please find our application at lovejoyfoundation.org when you come to an event please bring that filled out in hand with you. You can find our application at Lovejoyfoundation.org. Please note a Petfinder and Adoptapet Inquiry is not applying for the dog. You have to come to the event or send an email inquiry to our records email.
