Smokey's Story
Smokey is a 10-year-old, 75-pound sweetheart who arrived at our Sanctuary after being rescued from an overcrowded shelter. While much of his past is unknown, it's clear he came from a difficult situation he arrived at the shelter in rough condition, covered in fleas and dealing with irritated skin. With time, care, and a lot of TLC, Smokey has made a wonderful recovery, and his calm, gentle spirit has truly begun to shine.

Despite everything he's been through, Smokey remains an easygoing, affectionate boy who takes life in stride. He is beginning to experience some hearing loss, but his vision remains strong, and he's adjusting well with the help of a consistent, loving routine. He also has an old ACL injury that is being successfully managed with pain medication, and he's responding very well.

Smokey is currently thriving in a foster home where he's shown just how adaptable and sweet he is. In a split-level home, he handles stairs without issue and enjoys being part of the daily rhythm of family life. One of his favorite parts of the day is his daily mile-long walk he absolutely loves getting outside to stretch his legs, explore, and take in the world around him.

He also enjoys a good game of fetch and, most of all, being close to his people. Smokey is the kind of dog who doesn't ask for much just companionship, comfort, and a little love and he gives that same love right back in return.

This handsome senior boy is calm, steady, and incredibly affectionate. He has a quiet charm that makes him easy to fall in love with, and he's happiest when he's simply included in everyday life with his humans.

If you're looking for a loyal, gentle companion who still enjoys walks, playtime, and plenty of cuddle time, Smokey may be the perfect match.

https://www.seniordogsanctuary.com/adoption-application.html
