Smiling Dog's Story

Meet Smiling Dog!

Yes, that is his name: Don't wear it out! This boy has the biggest ear-to-ear smile and is always overjoyed to see you! He got his namesake from the children in his foster home who always comment on how he's truly the happiest puppy. Even before he developed any teeth, he always had that big, goofy smile.

Despite his happy-go-lucky attitude, this jovial puppy had a rough start to life. He and his 6 littermates were almost killed at a Texas shelter. They were surrendered without their mother at only 3 weeks old, and had to be bottle-fed every 2 hours around the clock. Their overwhelmed shelter didn't have those resources and were already preparing the puppies for euthanasia, when we walked in 30 minutes after close for a different litter. When they told us about Smiling Dog's litter in the back, we couldn't bear the thought of their whole litter being destroyed, and walked out the door with two litters of puppies.

Since Smiling Dog was bottle raised, and fostered with children, he is very used to handling (and probably on the needy side). He's playful and loves to be doted on. He's the largest of the litter, with oversized, squishy paws, a blocky figure, muscular legs, and the sweetest eyes.

He is doing great with housebreaking, is sleeping through the night, and just started crate training. He loves to play with kids and other dogs; he has never met cats but has shown a little too much interest in the foster's chickens.

His adoption fee includes *all* rounds of puppy vaccines, rabies, his neuter, microchip, deworming, and he comes up to date on heartworm prevention. He is available for out of state adoption, so don't let distance discourage you from applying for this ham!

To apply for Smiling Dog, click the link below...
