Smiley's Story

Meet Smiley!
3 years old
Spayed
57lbs

Smiley is a sweet, affectionate 3-year-old girl who has really blossomed in her foster home. She is looking for a family who will give her the love, patience, and time she needs to continue becoming the wonderful companion we know she can be.

Smiley is crate trained and does very well in her crate. She is also potty trained, although she is still learning how to let her people know when she needs to go outside. At night, she has been sleeping peacefully on a dog bed on the floor of her foster familys bedroom.

One of Smileys favorite things is being close to her people. She loves cuddling on the couch and is very affectionate. She has been living with a toddler and is wonderful with kids. She especially loves giving kisses!

Smiley enjoys playing with bones and treat toys, although she isnt particularly treat motivated. She does enjoy her kibble with a little water added to it, which seems to make mealtime extra special.

She is also a great walking buddy. She walks nicely on a leash without pulling and loves being outside. She has some energy to burn, though, and would absolutely love a family who enjoys taking long walks and giving her plenty of opportunities to explore and stretch her legs. Her foster family has learned that birds and rabbits are VERY interesting to Smiley, and she will want to chase them, so a firm hold on the leash is important when wildlife is nearby!

Smiley has lived with cats and is learning that not every cat appreciates being chased. She would likely do best with dog-savvy cats who are comfortable setting boundaries with a curious dog.

She has also become good friends with her foster familys resident dog. It took some time and patience for the two of them to warm up to each other, but once Smiley settled in, they were able to develop a nice relationship. Because of this, we think she would do best with a family willing to give her the time and space she needs to decompress and get comfortable with a new dog sibling.

Smiley loves being outdoors, loves her people, and has so much potential to be an amazing family dog. She would thrive with a family who will include her in their adventures, give her plenty of exercise, and—most importantly—continue to give her the patience and affection she has shown she can truly blossom with.

If youre looking for a sweet, cuddly girl who will happily join you for a walk and then curl up next to you on the couch, Smiley may be your girl!

Interested in adopting? Submit an adoption application on our website rescuedrascalsil.org!

We will review your application at our earliest convenience. If your application is selected, we will contact you for a phone interview. From there, wed schedule a meet and greet with the dog to make sure it is a great fit for adoption for the whole family and any other dogs in your home.

Questions about adoption?
