Slate's Story

Meet Slate!

Slate is a male, australian cattle dog/blue heeler, and born December 2025! He came to B&B with his littermates from a local shelter and is a part of our “Blue” litter! He is working on his potty/crate training and doing well! He would do best in a home with breed experience or an owner committed to continued training and stimulation!

Slate and his littermates were very shy when they arrived - but they are already coming out of their shells in their foster homes. He is working on crate training, and has been making progress each day.

Slate would do best in a furever home with another dog, and a breed-experienced adopter. Blue heelers are high energy working dogs that need lots of mental and physical stimulation.

He is being fostered in Richmond, VA and is up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, has been dewormed, and is on monthly preventatives. His adoption fee is $375 and covers the cost of age-appropriate core vaccinations, microchip, and required neuter when age-appropriate. We require that all adopters, regardless of the dog’s age, are committed to ongoing training and socialization as part of responsible ownership. To apply to adopt Slate, visit www.beaglesandbentleys.org/adopt.

Spay/Neuter Disclosure:
Spay/Neuter will be scheduled when age-appropriate and is covered in the adoption fee. We require adopters to be within a reasonable distance of Richmond or Virginia Beach in order to complete spay/neuter with our approved clinics.

Note: Sending a Petfinder inquiry is not submitting an application. We require a completed adoption application to move forward with adoption.

Beagles and Bentleys has an across-the-board evaluative process that we apply to every application we review that prioritizes our animals in need. We conduct a vet reference check (all resident dogs must be altered/up to date on dhpp/rabies and monthly preventatives, and cats must be altered and up to date on rabies) and a virtual home visit call where we discuss the adoption process and see your home.
