SKY's Story
Meet Sky – Energetic Pup in Training Sky is a young, curious, and playful pup who came in with two other dogs. She has a lot of energy and loves chasing balls and toys, though she’s still learning what to do with them — playtime is all about fun for her! Sky started out a little leash shy, but practice at the shelter with volunteers paid off. On a recent Doggy Day Out, she leashed up patiently with a harness, rarely pulled, was a good walking companion in the Bosque, and even stopped automatically when her volunteer stopped. She was happy when strangers pet her and paid no attention to bicyclists whizzing by. Continued training with her adopter is sure to pay off. During her DDO, she followed the volunteer around the backyard and stayed close and explored while the human pulled weeds. A secure yard is suggested where she can safely play and explore. Inside the house, Sky patiently let the volunteer brush her and wipe her with a wet cloth. She was calm, undemanding, and lay on a cushion chewing on a chew toy while the volunteer did work on the computer. Her curiosity did not extend to countertops and shoes in the closet! Her final outing was to a local coffee shop where she calmly entered, stood in line, and accepted the admiration of strangers. Sky is not suited for homes with small animals. She is looking for an active home that can provide consistent guidance, training, and lots of safe playtime. With patience and love, she is sure to grow into a loyal, playful companion who will keep her family entertained and full of smiles.
