Meet Skipper
Hi, my name is Skipper! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
Personality: Anxious, energetic
-Can Live with Kids: 16+, up to counselor's discretion.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history - with a proper and slow introduction. Would likely be overwhelming for any shy or senior cats who prefer to be left alone.
-Can Live with Dogs: Potentially with a PUPPY-TOLERANT dog after an initial introduction at the shelter and a prolonged introduction process in the home.
-Apartment Living: Yes with plenty of daily exercise and mental stimulation.
-Potty Trained: No
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, 6-week puppy course
-Energy Level: High! Puppies need lots of exercise, playtime and mental stimulation!
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Nope, good to go!
Meet Skipper - a pretty nervous guy who came to WHS as a stray. During his time here, he has been avoidant, but has been slowly gaining trust. He is definitely what we would consider a "project puppy" and may take longer to adjust into his new lifestyle. Puppies require a lot more attention and dedication than most adult dogs - future adopters must be ready to give them everything they need to be successful. Puppies require a home where someone is present most of the time as puppies do not do well being left alone for long hours.
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
