Skeet's Story

Skeet & Crosby are two adorable young shepherd/cattle dog mix puppies (best guess!) who are ready to find their forever families. These handsome brothers were found during the first week of May after being abandoned along the side of the highway near Meredith Lake in Fritch, Texas. They were estimated to be just 6-8 weeks old at the time and are now approximately 14-16 weeks old.

These boys are everything you could want in a puppy—happy, affectionate, playful, and incredibly smart. They love romping around with other dogs, have done well with cats and children, and are always ready for their next adventure. Like any young puppy, they're still learning, but they're making excellent progress with house training, crate training, leash walking, and are doing especially well using a doggie door.

Based on their appearance, we believe Skeet and Crosby are shepherd/cattle dog mixes and will likely mature into medium-large sized dogs, somewhere in the 50-65 pound range, though with mixed breeds this is only our best estimate.

Because of their herding breed traits, these boys are active, intelligent, and eager to learn. They'll thrive with families who can provide plenty of exercise, training, and mental enrichment. Previous experience with herding breeds is preferred, as these breeds excel when given structure, consistency, and a job to do.

Skeet and Crosby are fully vetted and ready to start their next chapter. They have received four DHPP vaccinations, Bordetella, Rabies, tested negative on a fecal exam, are neutered, microchipped, and have been cleared by their veterinarian for adoption.

If you're looking for a loyal companion, hiking buddy, adventure partner, or best friend, Skeet or Crosby may be the perfect addition to your family.

To apply for adoption, please complete an application here:
https://airtable.com/appklteyg5w2e0fmu/shrY8RxQc1KxQYCuv

At this time, we are accepting applications from adopters in NJ, DE, MD, DC, RI, TX, CO, NM, OK, IL, MI, OH, VA, WV, and NC. Adoptions to other areas may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Adopters must be 21+ years old and have proper identification. ALL members of the household must agree on the adoption. We do NOT allow adoptions to be surprises for others. Out of state adoptions are ALLOWED. We currently adopt to homes located in PA, NY, MD, DE, NJ, MA, CT, RI, OH, NH, OR, WA, SC, and FL. We will also adopt to homes located within 200-250 miles from Amarillo, TX 79101, and may make exceptions on a case-by-case basis for longer distances or other states. Potential adopters must submit an initial application that will be followed up by a phone interview and home check. Potential adopters must be able to prove that property management permits pets if renting or prove homeownership. We call two personal non-family references (ie. friends, neighbors or co-workers) that are to be listed on the application. If there are any current pets in the home, we will call your Veterinarian as well to ensure all pets are up to date on state required vaccines and are spayed/neutered. Potential adopter must provide basic care for the life of the animal. An adoption contract must be thoroughly read, completed, and signed by the adopter before the adoption is complete. The adoption process could range anywhere from a few hours, up to a week. We do NOT hold dogs/puppies.
