Sissy's Story
Sissy
6 years, 13lbs
Rescued in the Southwest where she was surrendered after her owner passed away.

Meet Sissy (also known as Bandit or Meeko, thanks to her little face mask)! At 6 years old and 13 pounds, this affectionate, loving, playful girl is people-oriented with a low energy, homebody spirit — she's happiest curled up close to her people, tail wagging nonstop. She's cautious but curious when it comes to new people and situations, needing a little time to warm up before she shows you her sweet side, and she mostly ignores other dogs on walks unless one gets too close to her face, at which point she just quietly signals she'd rather not, no barking or fuss involved.

Sissy is fully potty trained (she'll even let you know when she needs to go), doing well on leash, and very food-motivated, which has made basic training surprisingly quick. She does not shed.
She's getting more comfortable with her crate each day, loves her big plush highland cow toy, and is a great car companion who's just happy to ride along. Her days are simple — walks, naps, meals, and lots of cuddle time — and she'd do best in a moderate-to-calm apartment household with a patient adopter who loves a velcro dog and doesn't mind giving her time to build confidence. Another calm dog in the home could help, though she'd likely need to warm up to them first. Sissy is a sweet, gentle soul who just wants to be by your side — the perfect quiet, devoted companion for someone ready to help her feel safe.

**Sissy previously tested positive for heartworm and was treated before she came north.**

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt Sissy, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!
