Simon is a young DEAF English Shepherd/Australian Shepherd mix who is searching for his forever home. Simon needs a home with herding breed experience who understands the amount of physical and mental activity a dog like him will require. Deaf herding dogs can be more prone to OCD or other behaviors if they are not properly exercised both mentally and physically, so someone who understands this is very important. A physically fenced yard is a must (no exceptions), and no shared walls (because he is deaf, he can be a bit loud when he is left alone). Simon needs a home with another young, active dog, as he truly thrives on their companionship, and someone who works from home or is home often is ideal. He is a super sweet, super smart boy who would excel at obedience, and may have what it takes for agility and nose work. He is already learning sign language, is doing well on house breaking and crate training (though he does have some crate anxiety that we are working through), and is fostered with other dogs, kids and cats. He loves to run an play and being deaf does not slow him, or his herding instincts, down one bit. Simon is super cuddly and an all around good boy.
