Simba's Story

Meet Simba!

Simba is a 4-year-old Lagotto Romagnolo with a big personality, a brilliant mind, and some of the most entertaining hair you've ever seen. His life began in Serbia, where he was bred by a well-known breeder before being flown to the United States to join his family.

While we don't know all the details behind his surrender, his family shared that they had a second baby on the way and felt life was about to become too hectic to give Simba the time and attention he deserved. They clearly cared about him and wanted to make the best decision for his future. Simba lived with a young child and reportedly did wonderfully with her, forming a close bond with his little human companion.

One thing that's immediately obvious about Simba is how incredibly smart he is. He knows a variety of tricks, learns quickly, and loves engaging with his people. He's also an absolute character. His signature poofy hair on top of his head gives him endless charm, especially when he gets excited and does his adorable little happy-foot dance. Watching his fluffy hair bounce as he taps his feet in anticipation is guaranteed to make you smile.

Simba is good with other dogs and will happily play when the mood strikes, but he's not the type who needs canine companionship to be happy. He generally seems much more interested in his people than in other dogs.

When Simba arrived, he came with multiple cratesone for the car, one for nighttime, and one for when the family wasn't home. He appears very accustomed to crate life and will often head straight for his crate even when everyone is relaxing at home. We're helping him learn that he doesn't need to spend his free time in a crate and that being part of the family is where the fun happens.

Simba's foster reported one incident of resource guarding with a high-value food item around another dog. We have not observed this behavior in our multi-dog household, but because it was reported, we feel it's important to mention. As with many dogs, proper management around especially prized treats is always a good idea.

Simba is looking for a family that will appreciate his intelligence, enjoy his goofy personality, and give him the time and companionship he deserves. If you're looking for a loyal, entertaining, and exceptionally smart best friend, Simba may be your perfect match.
