Shorty's Story

Shorty<br/><br/>Meet Shorty, a happy, trusting, friendly, playful, and affectionate five-year-old who weighs nine pounds! He's a rescue from Texas who's now living the city life. He's moderate energy, with great pep for a little guy, and he loves his walks before a good cuddle and a nap. He's people-oriented, loves affection, and trusts people quickly. He warms up fast in new situations, and once he's comfortable he rarely barks.<br/><br/>Shorty makes friends with everyone he meets and is quiet and relaxed with guests once he's settled in. He should do well with another dog if it's the right fit, and a meet-and-greet first is a must. He's fine when left alone, knows how to walk on a leash, and knows sit. He knows to wait for his food, too!<br/><br/>His days are simple and sweet: two walks, tug-of-war with his toys, lots of cuddles, and a good nap. He's working on apartment potty training and wearing his cute little diapers in the meantime, and his foster is confident he'll get there once he's settled in his forever home. He's quiet and little, which makes him a great fit for apartment living.<br/><br/>Shorty would do best with an adopter who will shower him with affection, enjoy a good game of tug, and be patient while he settles in. He'd thrive in a moderate household with a steady routine.<br/><br/>**What his foster says about him:**<br/>"He trusts people quickly and makes friends with everyone he meets. He's playful, loves affection, and his favourite game is tug-o-war with his toys. What I love most are his cuddles and his snaggly little tooth, which peeks out when he's all snuggled up."<br/><br/>**INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?**<br/>To adopt apply on our website [www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt](https://www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt) and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.<br/><br/>PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.<br/><br/>Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
