Shorty's Story

Meet Shorty, the king of zoomies! He's a one-year-old bully breed mix who loves to show off his traffic-stopping moves on Cactus Rd. But despite our best efforts finding the family that lost him, he's now looking for his forever home. Shorty is desperate for a foster or adoptive home because let's face it, being boarded at Heidi's Village isn't enough space for this little guy to shine (and do more zoomies)! He does love the treadmill that they have at Heidi's and he is a staff favorite! Shorty was adopted in December with the undertsanding he needed to be an only dog and needed training on the leash and around children. Despite giving the adopter that information they have deciede to return Shorty to the rescue for jumping on children and knocking them over, which they were told about. Shorty will be going back to Heidi's Village for boarding where he unfortunately was depressed and teriorating, but he MUST be the only animal in the home so we don't have another option. He does well in a kennel and being put in a room if young children are around. He knows how to use the dog door to go out to potty as well. He appears to be possibly crossed with dachshund/basset hound or similar. This awesome pup gets along great with older kids and people but would do best as an only dog and no cats. Shorty has a soft spot for men but doesn't discriminate; uses pet door like a pro, non-destructive when left alone and can't get enough affection. Could Shorty be your new best friend? Every dog and puppy that comes through The Barking Lot Dog Rescue will be "vetted" before they leave to their forever home. Being "vetted" not only means a veterinarian has seen them to ensure they're healthy; it also means they have been spayed/neutered, received at least one injection of DAPP (puppies under 6 months require 3 dosages - remaining vaccines will be scheduled at time of adoption if not already given), bordetella and rabies vaccine (required by law) and microchip. They have also been socialized in a home setting with people and other animals (varies per dog, please see their kennel card for more information).
