The world had taught him that sounds meant danger and staying small was the safest way to survive. When rescuers finally opened the door, Shiitake didn’t run toward them—he waited, trembling, unsure if kindness was something he could trust.<br/><br/>Today, Shiitake is bravely taking life one day at a time, and his confidence is slowly blossoming. With patience and love, he’s learning that the world can be a safe and beautiful place. He enjoys playing with his doggie friends and finds comfort in their companionship, showing glimpses of the happy pup he’s becoming.<br/><br/>Because Shiitake can be shy at first, we recommend a home with older children who understand how to give him space and move at his pace. A fenced yard would be ideal for him—somewhere he can feel secure as he explores, plays, and continues to grow more confident. Apply now for this sweet, deserving boy and help him create a future filled with nothing but positive memories from here on out! 🐶💕<br/><br/>If interested in Shiitake, please apply online: ADOPTION APPLICATION or email us at Info.FetchingHeartsRescue@gmail.com.<br/><br/>Unless otherwise indicated, all dogs adopted through Fetching Hearts have received the following before being available for adoption:<br/><br/>Thorough veterinary examination.<br/>All routine annual vaccinations, including<br/>Rabies, DHLPP<br/>Bordetella (Kennel Cough)<br/>Heartworm Test<br/>Fecal Test, Deworming<br/>Microchip<br/>Flea and Tick Prevention<br/>Heartworm Prevention.<br/>Spay/Neuter<br/>All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.<br/><br/>VETTING NOTE: Fetching Hearts Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. If anything is brought to our attention, we treat the dog. After adopting the dog, you will be responsible for following up with all vetting going forward.<br/><br/>HEARTWORM NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 5-6 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
