Shelby 's Story
This sweet face is Shelby. At a year and a half old, she’s around 40 lbs and believed to be a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Lab mix. She even has the cutest little strip of raised hair down her back to match her Ridgeback look!

Shelby is a shy, gentle girl who takes a little time to fully trust new people, but once she does, she becomes the most loyal shadow. She loves quietly following her foster around the house and being close to her people. If she isn’t nearby, you’ll usually find her curled up on the couch catching up on one of her many naps. Shelby is a calmer, lower-energy dog who enjoys a peaceful environment and cozy routines. While she does well in her crate, she may voice her opinion for a few minutes before settling in.

Outside, Shelby has the funniest little quirks. She loves rubbing her face and body through the grass — and sometimes even along the sidewalk — and will happily roll around on the couch like an oversized cat. Fittingly, she absolutely adores cats and is currently fostered with feline friends she enjoys spending time with. She also attends puppy class and likes other dogs, especially respectful companions who understand personal space and won’t overwhelm her.

Because Shelby is still learning to feel fully safe and confident, she would do best in a calm home without young children. When she first came into rescue, she would flinch away from touch, but with patience and kindness she has already made incredible progress. She’s very food motivated, which has helped her build trust and confidence with people, and she’s working hard on household basics after likely never having lived inside before. Shelby is potty trained in her foster home and continuing to do well with crate training.

Shelby is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart. Beneath her timid exterior is a deeply loving, sensitive girl who simply needs someone willing to give her the time and patience to truly blossom. She’s already wonderful exactly as she is — and watching her confidence grow is incredibly rewarding.

Shelby is spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested, and current on vaccines.

Adoption App:
https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/40532/generic
