Shelby was a rescue from the Puerto Rico hurricanes. A friend of a friend adopted her but then got cancer and couldn’t take care of her. We adopted her to our farm as a companion for our other female dog 2 years ago. They seemed great together- best friends… but they have started to not get along with each other and after talking to several trainers and the vet, they say it’s a female dominance issue and we should re-home her. So we are very sad to give her up, but it seems best for everyone.

Shelby is very sweet and affectionate, she’d love to be someone’s only dog. She’s trained and will sit, stay, lie down, come on command. She was crate trained before we had her, but we have not crated her. She’s spayed, current on shots, is very healthy and fit, is 4-5 years old. We don’t know what breed, guessing a Labrador or maybe with Shepard as she has strong herding tendencies.

She’s good with cats, chickens, farm animals. She’s good in cars, on a leash, even off leash she doesn’t chase wild life.

Shelby is a bit timid, she’s afraid of a moving dog bowl, so we feed her in a heavy bowl that won’t move. She really wants to be with people, but is fine alone and doesn’t chew up anything.

She gets anxious around hyper dogs. We think she’d prefer being an only dog.
We are very sad to have to give her up but keeping the two girls apart is not practical on our farm. We think she’d be happier being an only dog too. We hope she can find a loving home soon, it’s heart breaking really… but it is necessary.
