Shasta's Story

Calling all senior dog lovers!

We have a sweet older pup looking for someone who appreciates the slower pace, the gentle companionship, and the special kind of love that only a senior dog can give. Maybe you're retired and looking for a loyal friend to share your days with, or maybe you simply have a soft spot for the gray muzzles and wise eyes. If that sounds like you, this wonderful senior might be exactly who you've been waiting for.

Meet Shasta Your Little Old Lady with a Big Heart

At 14 years young, Shasta is proof that the best things in life get sweeter with age. This adorable 11-pound Shih Tzu is looking for a soft place to land and a family to love her through her golden years.

* Co-exists with other chill dogs just fine! She is not a playmate though.
* Untested with cats but we assume she would be just fine.

Shasta has a few medical needs that come with being a senior. She is gradually losing her vision, and her left eye requires daily eye drops for the rest of her life. She also has liver disease, so she'll need lifelong medication and prescription food. Her back knees have luxating patellas, which makes her a little wobbly on her feet—but don't let that fool you!

This precious girl still has plenty of personality. She loves lounging on a cozy blanket, surprises everyone with the cutest slow-motion zoomies, has mastered the silent bark, and will never turn down a Milk-Bone. She's kennel trained, potty trained, and enjoys the simple things in life. She will also need regular grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best.

Because Shasta is a senior with limited vision and mobility, she would be happiest in a calm, quiet home without young children, where she can enjoy a predictable routine and all the love she deserves.

Shasta is up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. All she's missing is a loving home where she can spend her golden years surrounded by kindness, comfort, and love.

Could you be the one to give this sweet senior the happy ending she deserves?Apply to adopt Shasta today at www.adoptapal.org/adopt
Her adoption fee is $350.

(Located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa)
