Introducing Shapiro, which loosely translates to handsome in Yiddsish, a magnificent 3-year-old Lab mix in search of his forever family! He is a young soul who is just happy to be part of a family and whatever they are up to for the day. This wonderful boy is embarking on a journey of discovering the joys of being a dog, much like a puppy would. He is learning so much all of the time. His spirit belongs in a field chasing butterflies and bugs. Shapiro has already mastered the art of being fully house-trained and does well when left in a room with a closed door for a work day. His compatibility with a resident malamute and cat is established they get along splendidly. He takes cues from other critters well and gets it when they don't want to play with him. A true gentleman all around with calmness and composure.
Shapiro does beautifully on a leash with no pulling. He loves to go for a walk but is overall very mellow if does not get one every day. When he encounters any type of critter on a walk or in the yard, he does not chase them. However, he loves attention from any person he meets. A true gentleman, he meets new faces with the utmost courtesy, never resorting to jumping or pushiness. Currently fine-tuning his "sit" and "down" commands, Shapiro is undeniably treat-motivated, which makes training an enjoyable endeavor. Although he hasn't lived with kids, he has met several and was happy to make their acquaintance. After an eventful day, Shapiro unwinds by nestling onto the couch or his dog bed. He does not have the best body awareness, much like a 10-year-old human boy, and may get in the way when cooking in the kitchen. He is learning out when he is in an area that just does not accommodate his size and curiousness. Also, his ears are to die for.
