Shannee's Story
Meet Shannee!

Shannee is a wonderful 2-year-old, 70-lb. girl who is loving, intelligent, housetrained and crate-trained. She might be a Great Swiss Mountain Dog mix, as far as anyone can guess, due to her markings.

Shannee and her litter mates were rescued from the Navajo Reservation, where she was given the full name Alishannee — a Native American name meaning "she who plays all day." You can see in one of her photos how adorable she was when she was rescued as a puppy — and she's still adorable!

Shannee knows all of her basic doggie cues and could easily be an agility trainee. She's gone through some good training programs. She has a beautiful way of bounding through the yard where she looks like a deer at times!

Shannee is good with cats and good with kids over the age of 10, so we're saying no young kids in the home, please and thanks. At boarding, Shannee is really good with other dogs. She loves bully sticks and dog bones.

She's good on leash but will pull on her leash when she sees a rabbit, squirrel or prairie dog — after all, she's a dog!

The only reason she's up for adoption is, her person is dealing with some health problems and can't walk Shannee as much as she'd like to, which has meant long-term boarding for Shannee. We're now stepping in to help find Shannee a great new home.

Ideally she'd be adopted to a home where she has a big yard or better yet acreage to spread her wings in. She might be a good guardian girl for a rural home. Once she's introduced to new people outside the house before everyone goes inside, she's sweet and loving and happy.

For more info and/or to apply to adopt Shannee, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.
