Shadow (Local)

Meet Shadow, a wonderful "best of both worlds" kind of dog -- playful when it's time for fun, and an expert snuggler when it's time to relax.
This handsome senior boy still has plenty of life and love to give, and he's hoping to find a forever home where he can truly settle in and be cherished.

Shadow's journey hasn't always been easy. He was originally adopted from another rescue many years ago, but sadly ended up in a shelter later in life, underweight, neglected, and heartbroken. Thankfully, he got a second chance with a loving second adopter who adores him dearly.

Unfortunately, it was discovered that Shadow was not comfortable living with the male dogs in the home, so with his best interest at heart, PAWS is now helping him find the perfect match for his next chapter.

Despite his age, Shadow still enjoys running around the yard, playing, and soaking up the sunshine. Once he's gotten his playtime in, he's more than happy to curl up beside his people for cuddles -- and yes, he loves sleeping in bed with his humans at night.

Shadow is housetrained, walks nicely on leash with a harness, and does very well being left loose in the home when alone. Crates are not his favorite thing, but he's proven himself to be trustworthy with free roam of the house.

Shadow would do best as the only dog in the home, or possibly with a large, easygoing, non-aggressive female dog companion. What he truly wants most is a calm, loving home where he can feel safe, comfortable, and part of the family. If Shadow had someone to sit around all day and jsut out him. He would be in heaven.

If you're looking for a loyal companion who still enjoys a little fun but also knows the value of a cozy cuddle session, Shadow may be your perfect match.

Name: Shadow (Local)
Breed: Retriever/Crossbreed (Breed mix is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).
Sex: Male
Age: 7-8 years (estimated)
Weight: 75.0
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Vaccinations: Up to date
Heartworm: Negative on recent testing
Microchipped: Yes

BASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:
Good with Children: Over 12
Good with Dogs: Best for him to be the one and only dog in his home.
Good with Cats: No

Adoption Fee: $300.00 (includes transport fee when applicable)
$100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee for Massachusetts residents.

Location of dog currently: New England

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
