Shadow

Shadow is a sweet, resilient five year old boy who has endured more than any dog should. He was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico and brought to Tampa Bay, where he finally experienced the comfort of a loving home. But after a crosscountry move triggered severe anxiety, he was surrendered, leaving his heart broken once again.<br/><br/>For a moment, things seemed to turn around. Shadow was adopted by another family and began to settle in. But when his vision started to fade, his family chose not to seek answers and returned him to us. He came back overweight, with swollen ankles, and carrying the weight of yet another loss.<br/><br/>We soon learned that Shadow has a thyroid condition. With medication, a healthy diet, and proper care, he is already improving and showing glimpses of the happy, playful pup he truly is. His vision changes may even be connected to this condition, and he is undergoing further evaluation to give him the best chance possible.<br/><br/>Through every setback, Shadow has remained the same at his core: a loving, affectionate dog who simply wants to be close to his people. He deserves a calm, patient home where he can continue healing and finally be cherished for the incredible companion he is.<br/><br/>Shadow has been let down too many times, but we believe his forever family is out there.
