Meet Selket <br/><br/>Named after the Egyptian goddess Selket, this beautiful Husky mix has a personality all her own. At around 2 years old, Selket is curious, playful, and discovering more about the world every day.<br/><br/>Selket came to us as a stray and was diagnosed with heartworm. Our team is currently looking into the best next steps for her care while she works on gaining some much-needed weight. She is becoming more comfortable meeting new people and seems to enjoy having someone take the time to get to know her.<br/><br/>Give Selket some room to stretch her legs and explore, and you'll see her playful side come alive! She loves running around the yard and has plenty of energy to share. After getting some exercise and having a chance to settle, she is able to focus better on her person and has even shown us that she knows how to sit. She is still learning her basic manners and commands and will thrive with someone who enjoys positive-reinforcement training and watching a dog discover new skills.<br/><br/>Selket has also surprised us with how well she handles grooming. She happily allowed us to brush out her loose coat and even leaned into the brush! She is still learning that having her feet handled can be a positive experience, so continued gentle practice with paw handling and nail trims will help her build confidence.<br/><br/>Selket is a sensitive girl who appreciates people who pay attention to her body language and give her time to process new experiences. She has shown interest in other dogs, but she will benefit from slow, thoughtful introductions that allow everyone involved to communicate comfortably. She has shown little interest in the cats she's passed, but because she has a strong interest in movement, we recommend continued management around cats and other small, fast-moving animals.<br/><br/>Selket is not yet spayed and is currently working through her heartworm treatment. She is looking for someone who will celebrate her progress, give her opportunities to learn, and help her discover just how wonderful life can be.<br/><br/>If you're looking for a playful, curious companion who is ready to grow alongside you, come meet Selket.
