Come listen to a story about a dog name Scrappy. Scrappy came to us by someone looking for help. He was adopted from the shelter when he was a puppy and he is 10 yrs old. He is micro chipped, but it was never updated (that should get done by new person). He weighs 22 lbs and is UTD on his shots and is neutered. He had to be sedated to get shaved and to get a cyst drained from his hip and updated on his rabies.

A message from Scrappy...... Hi everyone, you know my name, what's yours? Let me start by saying I am a great guy and my foster family loves me. I get along with their dogs but since they do not have cats, (shrugs shoulders) who knows if I like them or not. I am well behaved and potty trained. Well of course, I am a gentlemen. I am a happy go lucky guy that loves attention. Things I like is playing fetch, attention and kids. I also love being in your lap. Did I tell you I am also a mellow guy? Well I am! I also walk nicely on a leash, but stop on occasion to check something out. If you are laying down on your bed, I may put my front paws on the side of your bed asking for you to pick me up so I can lay on top of you for a cuddle. I will not lay on the bed. I also learned something new, I learned how to use the doggie door. I am such a smart chap.

Just so you know I am grateful to YVPR for putting me in a nice foster home where I have been safe and well taken care of. I am looking for a new forever home where I will get regular grooming. The hippy look just does not do me any justice. I am also looking for a nice fenced in yard to rump around and play in and maybe soak in the rays when its nice. So will you and I become best buds? An application must be filled out and accepted before a meet can be set up. If accepted, you will hear from us within 72 hours. You will have the opportunity to ask questions before you meet the pet; an adoption may or may not happen at that time.
We do adopt outside the Yakima area IF you are able to come to Yakima to pick up your adopted pet. We do not have a kennel facility; all of our pets are in foster homes. Therefore, meets and adoptions take place at either our office or at a place chosen by the adoption coordinator.
If a pet has 'Adoption Pending' beside its name, an adoption is imminent. Please fill out an application anyway because adoptions don't always go through.
Your application will be kept on file for 30 days in case you find another pet you'd like to apply for.
