Scrappy's Story

Millie and Scrappy are a young, active, bonded pair from different backgrounds. They need to be placed together in a loving home that appreciates the Basset Hound breed. The current owners are unable to continue caring for both. We are seeking a responsible and reliable family with a fenced yard to foster and/or adopt both hounds.

BHRL will be paying for Scrappy's "cherry eye surgery" prior to his adoption. We would appreciate a donation of $500+ for the Basset Hound pair which will help cover some of the cost.

Scrappy's listed birthday is approximate. He is 3 1/2 - 4 years old.

See Millie's profile at: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/millie-81431a3e-40cb-4056-94bc-2f641027f03b/md/fort-washington/basset-hound-rescue-league-md350/details/

Basset Hound Rescue League's Adoption Policy
*We prefer homeowners (town homes, short-term rentals, roommate situations, condos, and apartments are often not approved) *Dog should not be left alone for 4+ hours a work day without access to the backyard (e.g. doggy door or a dog walker or a neighbor that can walk the dog) *The dog will sleep indoors at night *A fenced yard is required for hound breeds *Children ten years or older are preferred (specifically Basset Hounds -- as dogs get older they often do not get along with young children and this is the #1 reason that dogs are given up to us) *Stairs need to be blocked off for short legged breeds to prevent back injuries The above requirements are especially enforced with Basset Hounds. Exceptions can be made for other breeds.
