Scrappie -LOCAL's Story

Scrappie is a big gentle boy with a heart full of love and a coat as unique as his story -- mostly white with a few beautiful brindle areas.

After being rescued from life on the streets in Mississippi, Scrappie found a loving home in November 2023, where he lived happily with a mom and three older children. Unfortunately, due to major life changes, he is once again
looking for a forever family to call his own.

Scrappie absolutely loves people and thrives on companionship. He's especially good with adults and older kids (ages 10+), but younger children confuse him, so he needs a home without little ones.

We have discovered that there are a few things that cause Scrappie to become defensive with other dogs when they're close up and personal, so he needs to be the only dog in the home.

This boy is house trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. He's very food motivated, which is great for training! He may be approaching senior status, but still has plenty of energy.

Scrappie has come a long way--he used to struggle with separation anxiety, but thanks to a little support (and some temporary medication), he's now calm when left alone and no longer needs meds.

If you're looking for a big, affectionate companion who's already done the hard work and just
wants to snuggle up and be loved, Scrappie might just be your perfect match.

Apply for this sweet boy and see if he's the missing piece in your home.

Name: Scrappie
Breed: American Bulldog Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 8 years 4 months as of 10/24/25
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Vaccinations: Up to date
Heartworm: Negative on last testing
Microchipped: Yes

BASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:
Good with Children: Over 10
Good with Dogs: He cannot live with another dog, but has no problem seeing other dogs while on walks.
Good with cats: No

Adoption Fee: $300.00

Location of dog currently: Connecticut

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
