Scout's Story

Scout is our fantastically freckled, fluffy-faced Heeler mix puppy with a heart as big as her adorable smile! This fun-loving girl is looking for a forever family that will appreciate her unique needs and the incredible joy she brings to everyone she meets.

Scout is believed to be nearly deaf and partially blind. She appears to hear only very loud noises, and while we believe she can see some movement and shadows, her vision may be limited at a distance and in low-light conditions. Nighttime can be especially challenging for her. Despite these challenges, Scout approaches life with enthusiasm, confidence, and a happy-go-lucky attitude. In fact, she has absolutely no idea she's any different!

At just 8 months old, Scout is still very much a puppy. She loves to play, chew, and explore, so plenty of toys are a must. She is a total velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be close to her people. Whether she's curled up under your desk while you work or snuggled up beside you at the end of the day, Scout is happiest when she's with her family.

Scout gets along wonderfully with everyone she meets, including dogs, cats, and children, truly making her a wonderful addition to any family. She especially enjoys having canine friends around and often takes cues from them, making another friendly dog in the home a wonderful match for her. She has learned to navigate stairs with ease and has adapted remarkably well to her environment.

Her foster describes her as playful, loving, and endlessly entertaining. Going outside can quickly turn into a game of keep-away, and catching Scout when she's feeling playful has been providing her foster family some night time entertainment! Thankfully, she's almost, if not fully, housebroken and settles nicely in the home.

Because of her hearing loss, Scout has been learning to communicate through visual cues and routines. She responds well to hand signals and watching other dogs. While loud noises are one of the few things she can hear, they can sometimes be startling for her.

Scout is looking for a family that will embrace her playful puppy antics, appreciate her affectionate nature, and help her continue building confidence. In return, she'll provide endless laughter, unwavering loyalty, and all the unconditional love a puppy can give. If you're looking for a truly special, family companion who doesn't let anything hold her back, Scout may be the perfect addition!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN SAVING A LIFE!
Volunteers and staff are excited to assist you in the adoption process!
