Scout's Story

Meet the cutest most exotic 10 month old mix Scout! He is the great American dream dog. He's got a beautiful brindle coat which is the Pressa but he's got a curled tail and shepherd – elk hound qualities. He loves hiking and exploring. He loves large breed female dogs. He's been in a playgroup with male dogs, but he tends to be, the dominant alpha. He is great with kids, but he still a puppy and jumps up out of excitement which he will grow out of in a few months. He is crate trained, loves to please his master, learns quickly and loves structure. He is super affectionate and lays with me in the hammock. He did amazing at his 1st adoption event and loved meeting and engaging with strangers. He loves his walks and is always smiling. He would make any family happy either being the only dog or having another playful dog to power around with and burn energy all day. He's currently being fostered in Claremont, California, and if you'd like to set up a meet and greet, please let me know! He is neutered and up-to-date on all of his shots. He would love a family to take him camping or hiking on the weekends.

Healing Hounds Rescue's Adoption Policy
I have them fill out my foster/adoption contract and after receiving I call to vet them and understand their abilities and the type of dog they would like. We have a good hour long convo of everything from slow introductions, training, positive reinforcement, needs of the dog, and the adopters expectations. I either do a home check or ask for pictures of where the dog would be staying, sleeping, eating. Then we plan a meet and greet with adopter and adopters other animals or family members to see how the dog reacts. I want to set up my rescues for success and make sure it's a good fit for everyone.
