Scarlett's Story

Hi, Im Scarlett
Still learning what love feels like.

If youre reading this, I want to say thank you, because knowing someone is rooting for me means more than you know.

Im around 3 or 4 years old, and for most of my life, I didnt get to be a real dog. I was kept in a crate, rarely touched, rarely loved. The world outside my kennel was something I could only hear through metal bars. Then one day, everything changed. I was rescued along with two other dogs. One of them was too hurt to survive. The other is still too scared to let people near. But me? Somehow, I still want to believe the world can be kind.

At first, I didnt know what to do. Peoples hands made me flinch, especially near my neck. But then I met some humans who were patient, who let me go at my own pace. They didnt force hugs. They waited for me to ask for them. And eventually I did. Now Im a snuggle bug. I love curling up next to someone I trust. Ill roll over for belly rubs and melt into soft voices and gentle hands. Im learning what safety feels like.

Other dogs make me curious and excited. I really want to play. But Im still figuring out how. Ive never had dog friends before, and sometimes I get overwhelmed or scared, especially if they rush up too fast. A calm buddy would help me feel brave, but Ill need careful introductions and someone who understands that healing takes time.

My crate still feels like home, and thats okay for now. I find comfort in small spaces, in routine, in calm voices. Im working on building confidence, learning how to walk on a leash, and figuring out that the world is bigger than four walls.

Until then, Ill be soaking up the love in foster care, working on trust, and dreaming about a gentle home where Ill never be scared again.

Thanks for believing in dogs like me.

Arctic Rescue's Adoption Policy
HOW OUR ADOPTIONS WORK: 1) We require all adopters to fill out an online application at: https://www.arcticrescue.com/adopt 2) We are a Utah-based rescue. All potential adopters must come to Utah and meet the dogs. We do not transport dogs. 3) We want to make sure that your home is the perfect fit for one of our dogs and vice versa. We want all members of the family to be happy and well matched with each-other, so require families to do a phone interview, reference checks, meet dogs and pass a home-inspection before adoption.
