Sawyer's Story

Senior Hearts Rescue and Renewal is the only licensed senior dog rescue organization in Western Pennsylvania. We do not have a shelter or a public facility. ALL of our dogs reside in foster homes in the greater Pittsburgh, PA area. We are a 100% volunteer organization. Please respect our volunteers' time. If a dog is listed on PetFinder, he/she IS available for adoption. We cannot reply to messages, phone calls, and emails about a dog until we have received, reviewed, and approved an adoption application. Our ADOPTION application is found at www.seniorhearts.org/how-to-adopt Completing this application is the first step in our adoption screening process. You MUST complete the application in its entirety in order to be considered as a potential adopter. Please select "More About Us" for further details on our adoption requirements. You can meet a dog ONLY after we have completed our adoption approval process. We look forward to receiving your application in hopes that you are able to meet our adoption requirements and provide this dog with a loving furever home. And now a few words from Sawyer: I am 9 years young and weigh about 13 pounds. I'm a very active, healthy guy. I enjoy and require lots of long walks. After all, that is how I stay young! I'm a friendly boy who loves hanging with his human. I also am a very good boy meeting new people, as long as they pet me and tell I'm cute. I like other dogs. I get along with dogs my size. I like them so much that I require a dog friend to be in my furever home. I expect to have at least one dog friend that enjoys going on walks with me and napping together. I enjoy car rides and visiting new places. Of course I'm always happy to stop for a pup cup. I am in good health. I just got neutered and had a dental surgery. I am up to date on vaccinations and current on preventatives for flea, tick, and heartworm. I can live with older respectful children. That would provide me more humans to give me walks, attention, and belly rubs. I can be adopted into a home within a two-hour radius of Pittsburgh, PA. Senior Hearts Rescue and Renewal's Adoption Policy

Our adoption process starts with the completion of our adoption application at www.seniorhearts.org We are unable to answer FB messages, respond to emails, and answer phone inquiries about a dog until we have reviewed an adoption application. If our dog is listed on PetFinder it means the dog is available for adoption. Please do not waste our volunteers' time by emailing to ask if a dog is available. A few criteria we look for when processing applications: Good vet references, this means more than your pets just being up to date on vaccinations from a shot clinic. Not too many animals in a home. We want our seniors to receive much human interaction in their furever homes. We do NOT adopt our dogs into homes with electric fences. We do NOT process incomplete applications. Please be sure to read and answer each question when completing our online application. A phone interview and a home check are mandatory requirements of approving an adoption applicant. Our adoption process is detailed and lengthy. All of our volunteers work hard at ensuring each one of our senior dogs is placed into a home where he/she will continue to receive the thorough medical care and great love that we provided for the rest of their lives. If you submit an application, we appreciate your patience while we work through our process. Please note: All of our dogs reside in foster homes in the greater Pittsburgh, PA area. We do NOT have a public facility or shelter. Most of our dogs will only be placed in homes within a two hour radius of Pittsburgh, PA. We do NOT ship our dogs, nor allow our dogs to be placed on transport to a furever home. If an adopter resides out of our area, the adopter is required to come to Pittsburgh as the final step in our adoption process.
