Sawyer's Story

Sawyer could be that dream come true pup for retirees who enjoy spending their time with a gorgeous guy who is loving and engaging. There's no question that Sawyer would also do well with a younger family with gentle, dog-loving older kids who enjoy the fun and snuggles that a sweet dog brings to a family.

Sawyer has been identified as a loving and sweet as can be purebred 2 year old, 25 lb Miniature Schnauzer with a gorgeous coat that speaks of his breed. Texas veterinarians made the decision on Sawyer's breed as Farfel's doesn't do DNA testing. All we know for certain is that this little guy is sweet, loving and absolutely irresistible!

Farfel's wants to make certain that Sawyer is handled kindly and with respect. He'll return that loving treatment a thousand times over with his loyalty and sweetness. This little guy is as wonderful as can be, silly and playful, and once comfortable in his environment is entertaining in his silly antics and the love that he wants to show to everyone who is kind to him.

Being a young and super-smart Schnauzer, Sawyer loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement / force- free group obedience classes. These classes are so important in family bonding as well as teaching a dog the skills (in a very positive way) to understand boundaries and commands. This creates a well-behaved partner both at home and out in the community. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free / positive reinforcement trainers in your area.

Sawyer's sad story is all too common in our current world. A sweet dog getting released to a terrifying shelter through no fault of his own but rather due to the irresponsibility of his guardian. Sawyer's owner was simply not mentally or financially able to support a dog.

Sawyer may initially be a bit shy due to all the changes in his short life..but give him just a minute (a belly rub and yummy treats are wonderful) and he inches just a bit closer for a welcoming hug. Before you know it, he's gently loving you with a soft kiss.

Sawyer's compassionate Texas rescuers recognized all of these wonderful traits in this sweet dog. They knew that there was a dog-crazy Colorado home that would fall in love with this stunning guy and desire to make him a permanent and very important member of their family.

At 2 years old and a very portable 25 lbs, Sawyer is a perfect size for hiking the Colorado trails, neighborhood walks (he's a very social guy) and backyard fun with his family. And then at the end of the day, sweet Parsley would enjoy nothing more than a warm spot on the couch or bed next to his favorite people.

Sawyer will do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He'll be a committed and loving best friend and will be overjoyed with the opportunity to come along and be part of the fun. This little guy is so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure. It can be a visit with friends, a car ride, a vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch. All of this would speak to Sawyer's sweet temperament and love of his family.

Farfel's isn't open to a home where family members spend their days working full-time outside of the home. We'd like Sawyer to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Those who work from a home-based office would be perfect for this sensitive guy who loves spending time with his beloved family.

Sawyer has been fully vetted and vaccinated to fulfill Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy pets. He has also been neutered in hopes of a future where canine euthanasia for space no longer exists.

Gorgeous Sawyer has a stunning non-shedding (or perhaps lightly shedding) coat that would be a great choice for those with allergy concerns. He therefore will require a lifelong commitment to excellent nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his coat cottony-soft, very healthy and matte-free.

Current research is clear that a fresh, human grade ingredient food is the best way to limit vet visits as well as to insure the longest life possible for all dogs. Farfel's, through personal experience, recommends Chi Dog (chidog.com), a fresh food diet for the health and longevity of your best friend.

Sawyer will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 8/15/2026. If interested in this very loving and devoted best friend, please fill out a Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Applications can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Sawyer please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
