Meet SAWYER $350

"Hi, I’m Sawyer! I’m a 4-year-old neutered male lab mix and I weigh about 80 pounds. I’m a very sweet, shy, quiet, generally mellow guy. I love couches, beds, soft blankets, pillows… anything where I can feel comfy and safe or take a snooze.

Are you looking for a pup that –

- Loves affection? I love it when you talk to me, pet me, give me ear rubs and butt scritches…. my tail thumps with joy! I may be a little slow to warm up to new people, but some pets and sweet talk will win me over pretty quickly.

- Walks well on a leash? I stay close to my foster mom and I'm very cautious about others around me when I’m out and about. I’ll keep checking to make sure it’s safe. I also like to hang out in the yard and watch the world around me. I’m probably not a “long hike” kind of guy.

- Knows that potty goes outside? I made sure to mark my spot on my first day, but after a few adjustments, I’ve trained my foster mom to understand when I need to go out and haven’t had any accidents. I get a little hyper or give her a quick bark, and she gets the point.

- Likes the crate? When my foster mom leaves and when it’s bedtime, I go in the crate with a treat. I might whine a little the first few times, but I’m quiet after that. I nap in my crate sometimes during the day, too – it’s got soft blankets! I feel safe when I‘m in there, and I like to feel safe!

- LOVES toys? I especially like stuffies that squeak or crinkle, and chew toys and bones. I like to throw them in the air to myself and chase them, carry them around to my favorite spots in the house or play fetch with them outside! But if you have your heart set on a lab that will fetch a tennis ball for hours on end, that’s probably not me.
I don’t live with another dog right now, but I liked other dogs when I lived in Oklahoma. I haven’t been around kids much, but I’d probably prefer older kids, as quick movements and loud noises often startle me. I’m looking for a patient family to let me settle in, make me feel safe, and show me what being in a loving home is all about! I promise lots of happy tail thumps, goofy smiles, and unconditional love.

If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- www.luckymuttsrescue.org and submit an application. Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. Inaccuracies and/or incomplete data will delay and/or cancel your application. We strive to process all applications in a timely manner, but with the high volume of applications we are receiving, it is taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Submitting an application and receiving an approval does not guarantee you will be adopting the dog you applied for. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home. Meet and greets take place at our adoption center located in Milwaukee. If you are proceeding with adopting a Lucky Mutt, we will require the dog to have a Martingale collar at the time of adoption, to ensure the dogs safety during the transition to a new home.

Current Adoption Fees Are:
$400+tax for puppies to 3 years old
$350+tax for ages 4-7
$250+tax for ages 8 and up
Bonded pairs vary

The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, general deworming, heartworm test, (if over 6 months) and a certified veterinary inspection. Please be aware, listed dog breeds are based on information provided and cannot be guaranteed. Submitting an application for a particular dog does not guarantee that you will be the applicant chosen, we receive several applications for each dog. Our adopters are picked based on the needs of the dog, and the home we feel with best fit based on your responses to our application, vet information and landlord requirements. Approved applicants not chosen for the dog you applied for, will be in active status for a period of six months. We encourage you to watch Petfinder, Facebook and our website for upcoming dogs. Should you see a dog that interests you, please send us a Facebook message or an email with your approval number. Please be patient with us, as Lucky Mutts Rescue is run strictly by volunteers and many of us work full time jobs, have families and also foster dogs.
