Sassy's Story

Hi, I'm Sassy—and yes, I do live up to my name!

I'm a beautiful 4-5 year old possibly Basenji/Akita mix with brains, personality, and just the right amount of sass.

First things first: I believe furniture was invented for me. If there's a comfy chair or couch available—especially if you are sitting there—you can bet I'll be right beside you. Why sit alone when we can snuggle together?

I'm a pretty smart girl and have that working-dog brain, which means I like to keep my mind busy. But let's be honest... I also have a lazy side. Some days I'm ready to conquer the world, and other days I think my job is to lounge like the princess I am.

My favorite activities include:

Playing! I'm a fun, playful girl.
Rolling over for attention and affection.
Claiming the best seat in the house.
Prancing around and flirting with the boy dogs. A girl has to keep her options open!
Passenger princess that loves a good car ride!
Being lazy when the mood strikes.

I'm good with people, but we're not quite sure how I feel about very young children, so an appropriate introduction would be important. As for other dogs, I seem to enjoy the company of the boys, but we're still figuring out how I feel about the girls.

I am also kennel/crate trained, so I already know how to settle into my own space when needed.

And then there's my little quirk...

When I first went to the vet, I apparently developed a serious case of "white coat syndrome." Let's just say I had some opinions about that whole experience! But guess what? At my most recent visit, I did MUCH better. I'm clearly learning that the vet isn't quite as scary as I originally thought.

So, what am I looking for?

Someone who appreciates a smart girl with a big personality. Someone who will let me be playful, give me plenty of attention, share the couch with me, and understand that sometimes I need to be a little princess.

And if you're not local, that's okay! I can be transported to another state, with transportation arranged by my rescue mom. My furever family could be anywhere!

I may be Sassy by name, but underneath all that personality is a sweet girl looking for someone to love.

Come meet me and see if I'm the princess you've been looking for! Give my rescue mom a call at 901-570-1488!

P.S. If you have an extra-comfy chair, I'm already interested. If you're sitting in it... even better.

Memphis and Midsouth Animal Advocates's Adoption Policy
I am careful and conservative......lots of information gathering, several meetings at their home and at the rescue. I contact their Vet references if they have cared for animals before. Mandatory three training sessions that I attend with them and the pet if they have never had a pet before. We supervise the introductions of their current animals and their prospective pet. We provide aftercare followup and advice for the lifetime of their pet. We insist in the contract that the pet comes back to us immediately if they don't work in their adoptive family. Our dogs in the Midsouth need to be indoor dogs, no chains or tethers unless their person is outside with them, such as gardening in the front yard or camping.
