Meet Sarge - Puppy - Coming Late July

Meet Sergeant (or as we call him Sarge). Sarge was recused by CRT on Memorial Day, thus the tribute to our military with his adorable name.

The end of May a Good Samaritan found a male puppy running around the streets of Dallas. He was dropped off at a local dog advocate’s house who has helped rescue so many stray dogs in the past. She contacted CRT and he was immediately taken into our program. We are so happy to welcome this guy – he is a sweetheart.

Sarge is a fun loving, happy puppy who is full of life. Sarge gets along with the other dogs and cat in his foster home. He thinks the cat wants to play with him but gives up quickly when she ignores him! Sarge loves toys! Sarge’s foster mom fills his toy box up in the morning, then one by one Sarge takes each toy out to play. Efforts to train Sarge to put his toys back have failed miserably! He especially loves stuffed animals, and his favorite is a BIG green alligator that is literally bigger than him. He drags that alligator all over the yard. He loves to fetch, bring it back, so you can throw it again.

After a long day of playing hard, Sarge is ready for snuggles and kisses. Sarge is normally asleep on his foster dad’s lap before bedtime. He is so cute when he sleeps. He is usually on his back dreaming. Sarge loves soft blankets, and has mastered the art of fixing a blanket just right to lay on. At bedtime he sleeps under the covers — no blanket, sheets or bed is too soft for him.

Sarge is very smart. He flies in and out of the doggy door and has potty training nailed down. Of course, he expects a treat each time he comes in after going potty outside on his own. You can blame his foster dad for that one – LOL.

Sarge is about 4 months old. He is about 8 pounds. Sarge’s coat is a beautiful soft golden light brown. We love his floppy ears. Sarge enjoys being outside and for this reason a forever home with a fenced yard would be appropriate. He is not a big barker, but will bark at other dogs or situations he’s not familiar with. Sarge would enjoy another small dog to play with. He would probably do fine as an only dog as long as his family was around to give him the love and attention a puppy needs. He is a curious puppy who can get into things, and loves being with his foster parents. He would be great in a home where there is a great deal of activity and people were home a lot. A family that works 6-10 hour days with no one home would not be a good fit. There are no children in his foster home, but we believe he would do great with older mature children over the age of 10. His personality is so loving and joyful.

Sarge is being fostered in the Dallas, Texas area. If he sounds like the new best friend you’ve been looking for, please fill out an application! Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Sarge will be neutered in late July, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. He is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $378.88 adoption donation required ($350 adoption donation and $28.88 Texas Sales Tax fee.) Note: as of 1-1-20, the Texas State Comptroller office is requiring all rescue groups to collect sales tax on adoptions, even though we are all 501c3. We are all fighting this, but for now, have been told it is non-negotiable).

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
