Santos's Story

Age: ~4.5 years

Color: Red & Rust

Ears/Tail: Cropped/Docked

Intake Source: Shelter

Dogs: Good with dogs

Cats: Unknown

Crate Trained: Yes

Potty Trained: Yes

HW Status: Negative

Velcro Meter (1–5): 4

Activity Meter (1–5): 4

Cuddle Meter (1–5): 5

Meet Santos, an active, friendly, and outgoing dog who thrives on being part of the action. He is adaptable, loyal, confident, and very playful. He loves attention and enjoys being around people, though he can become a little jealous at times if he feels left out. Santos is naturally curious, but with simple redirection he responds well and settles appropriately. He is both crate trained and house trained and has some obedience training under his belt. Santos knows basic commands such as sit, down, and come.

He enjoys car rides and spending time with his people. While he does enjoy treats, he is not highly food motivated. He would benefit from continued work on leash walking to help polish his skills. Santos does well with big dogs, small dogs, and male dogs, and he plays well with others. He has been around young children (ages 3 and 1) and is curious but generally uninterested and appropriate with them. He also has mild separation anxiety and may bark excessively when left alone, so an experienced dog owner is a must.

Santos would do best in a home with lots of activity and regular exercise opportunities. An experienced dog owner who can provide structure, consistency, and continued guidance will help him thrive and be his very best self.
