Sandy #24 Yellow Labrador Retriever Killingworth, CT

Sandy is 13 years old and was in a high kill shelter. I got a call from some girls who help the shelter and said she was not doing well at all. She was very afraid, shaking and nervous so they needed to get her out. Her owner was sent to a nursing home and none of the family wanted her. When I got Sandy she was so afraid she paced the yard and did not want to interact. After a few days she settled and is now very interested in being with people. She no longer shakes and is comfortable in the house.

Sandy has arthritis and stumbles some. She gets around well though, but would do best with very few stairs or a ramp. She can get up them, but has difficulty. We got xrays and the vet didn't see anything out of the ordinary for a dog her age. If anything her knees could use surgery, but at her age it is not recommended. She also had a tumor on her side and it was removed. We are waiting for pathology now. Sandy is 51 lbs and has a cauliflower ear from old ear infections. She is on ear meds now. ADOPTION FEES: $345 non-refundable adoption fee for all vet expenses (spay/neuter, shots, etc.) and transportation to ensure your lab gets to you in a safe, professional manner. All fees may be paid using PayPal, cashier's checks, or money orders. Labs4rescue does not accept personal checks for adoption fees. All adopters must pay their Labs4rescue adoption fee prior to the rescue shipping their dog.

Residents of Massachusetts or New Hampshire are required to pay an additional $125 fee, which defrays the cost of their state's mandatory 48 hour isolation and examination by a licensed veterinarian.
