Sandy's Story
Hi everyone, my name is Sandy!

I’m a 2.5-year-old Golden Retriever with a gentle heart, a calm personality, and a tail that never seems to stop wagging. I absolutely love people and am happiest when I’m close to my humans, leaning against your legs, laying across your feet, or soaking up endless pets and affection. If you stop to say hello on a walk, there’s a very good chance I’ll politely wander over hoping for some cuddles and attention.

I’m a pretty easygoing guy out and about too. Other dogs barking on walks? Doesn’t bother me - I’d much rather calmly say hello and keep moving along. I’ve done wonderfully meeting other dogs and have been very respectful and social during introductions, both on walks and off leash. I also ride nicely in the car, though I’m still building confidence jumping in by myself. A little encouragement and a tasty treat help me feel brave!

Speaking of treats… I love them. I’m very food motivated and eager to learn, which makes training lots of fun. I already know my name and will happily come running when called. I’m practicing commands like “sit” and improving my leash skills. I’m a smart boy who already knows how to go to the door when I need outside, and I wait patiently for my harness and leash because walks are one of my favourite things.

When I’m not out exploring, you’ll probably find me stretched out in the grass enjoying the sunshine or relaxing beside you while you brush me, which I love by the way. I got so relaxed during brushing time that I even fell asleep. I also handled my vet visit like a total gentleman, waiting calmly and patiently while the doctor checked me over.

What I’m really hoping for is a family who will continue helping me grow into the best boy I know I can be. I would love humans committed to building my confidence, continuing my training, practicing my leash manners, and giving me fun enrichment like puzzle games, activities, and adventures. In return, I’ll be a loyal, loving companion who will always be close by with a wagging tail and a heart full of love.

Love,
Sandy
